HAHS fully supports the spay and neutering of pets in our community. However, we only provide these services for animals within our care. Pet owners looking for more information on spay/neuter services should contact your local veterinarian office or contact the following community organizations:
Camp Companion Spay/Neuter Clinics in Your Area:
Call: 507-951-7801 or 800-896-7009
If you have feral or farm cats that you would like to have fixed, please contact our partners, Camp Companion. Camp Companion is dedicated to helping spay/neuter farm and feral cats in your community. Put your name on their list and they will contact you when they are conducting a clinic in your area. On the day of the clinic, Camp Companion representatives will humanely trap your animals, spay/neuter them and return them to you at a cost of $20 per cat. This is a great way to curb the feral cat population and also an affordable way to spay/neuter multiple cats at once. “
Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP):
Call: 612-720-8236
Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program provides 100% of the funding and support for the first fully equipped veterinary clinic on wheels to deliver high-quality spay and neuter services for animals belonging to shelters, rescues and low-income pet owners in Minnesota. Their mobile surgical unit travels to a pre-scheduled destination for the day. The staff admits each animal, collects fees, and performs pre-operative physical exams. During the day, all the patients will be cared for by MNSNAP’s highly-qualified, licensed veterinarian and her team of experienced and caring veterinary technicians; patients will be anesthetized and surgically sterilized using the most current anesthesia medications, equipment and surgical techniques. All animals are discharged to their owners/caretakers or back to their rescues or shelters the same day.
Pet owners must qualify for this assistance- see qualifications here . Owners of free roaming, feral cats will automatically qualify.

We know that one of the most stressful things a family sometimes faces is when their beloved animal companion suddenly disappears but following these steps can help get them home safely:
~ Contact you neighbors immediately and ask them to keep watch in the neighborhood.
~ Check with your local Police Department. Ask if you community has a dog / cat pound and where they are located.
~ Check with the County Sheriff. Ask them to watch for your pet as they drive around the area. If you live near the county line, you may have to contact more than one sheriff’s department. Contact the Post Office, so the mail carriers can be on the watch.
~ Contact the veterinarians in your vicinity. “Found” animals are often brought to them.
~ Contact your local newspaper and place a “lost pet ad”.
~ Contact your local radio and cable stationsand ask them to make a public service announcement in your pet’s behalf.
~ Check www.PetFinders.com, in case someone has found and posted a listing for your pet on their website.
Very Important! Check with your local Humane Society:
