We do NOT have a shelter, but provide temporary animal housing at the homes
of volunteers.

We need volunteers to open their homes to act as temporary shelter for our animals.

If Your Pet Goes Missing

We know that one of the most stressful things a family sometimes faces is when their beloved animal companion suddenly disappears.  It is hard to think clearly ast such a time so we hope this checklist will help you return your pet home quickly.

Contact you neighbors immediately and ask them to keep watch in the neighborhood.

Check with your local Police Department. Ask if you community has a dog / cat pound and where they are located.

Check with the County Sheriff. Ask them to watch for your pet as they drive around the area.  If you live near the county line, you may have to contact more than one sheriff’s department.  Contact the Post Office, so the mail carriers can be on the watch.

Contact the veterinarians in your vicinity. “Found” animals are often brought to them.

Contact your local newspaper and place a “lost pet ad”.

Contact your local radio and cable stations. Ask them to make a public service announcement in your pet’s behalf. Contact the bus company so that driver’s can watch for you pet.

Contact your local pet stores or animal food suppliers.  Animals often turn up there or they hear about wandering animals.

Check www.PetFinders.com, in case someone has found and posted a listing for your pet on their website.

And Very Important, check with your local Humane Society.
Goodhue County Humane Society - Red Wing, MN - PH - 651-388-5286
Paws & Claws - Rochester, MN   PH - 507-288-7226
Winona Humane Society - Winona, MN   PH - 507-452-3135
Hiawatha Area Humane Society - Lake City & Wabasha - THAT”S US

We can help you print posters to circulate if you provide us with a photo of your animal.  We will be happy to check our recent “found animals” and alert our membership to be on the watch for your pet.

Of course, planning ahead is always the best way to prevent permanet loss.  Having your pet micro chipped is a very good way to insure his or her return.  Make sure your pet wears a collar with your name and address on a tag.  Please spay or neuter your pet. They’ll more likely remain “homebodies”
