The Hiawatha Animal Humane Society is over 40 years old.  We presently have 150 + members and are always looking for more.  Membership is open to anyone interested in animal welfare.

We are a non-profit organization so our membership dues and donations are tax deductible.

Seniors for Seniors - Through this, we offer our adoptable senior animals (age 6 or more) to folks aged 60 or older who are willing and able to adopt them, with the customary adoptions fees waived.

Pets for Vets - This program provides companion dogs and cats to US military veterans, again with the adoption fee waived.  “Nick and Rocky” were our first match in January of 2010.

Pet Adoption Without Surrender (PAWS) - This offers pet owners assistance in finding a new home for their pet, while allowing the pet to remain in the comfort of their present home.  HAHS advertizes the animal so that the owner can facilitate adoption. All animals in the program must be sterilized and current on all vaccinations. There may be a very minimal cost for this service to help cover the advertising costs associated with finding a home for your animal.
